Alexander News

Ron Dirksen, formerly of Alexander, suffered a stroke recently paralyzing one side of his body. The family is asking for friends and classmates to send get well or birthday cards to Ron for support. His address is 2315 Sheffield NW, North Canton, Ohio 44270.

The Ladies Guild had a meeting at the First Reformed Church last week and Pauline Arends had the program. She had a reading of elderly Chinese women, then showed pictures that were taken in the Sunshine Room of friends that attended her 93rd birthday party after church. Later, they all enjoy a little snack and coffee.

Another former Alexander resident, Heidi Harper is in the hospital. You may send her cards to Saint Marys Hospital,

Mary Brigh, Care of Heidi Harper, Room 512, Rochester, MN, 55902

Summer Reading Program at the Alexander Public Library

The theme of this year's program is “One World, Many Stories!” Beginning June 7 and during the month of June, children will meet every Tuesday afternoon at 1 PM at the library. For about an hour each week, there will be a story time for all and each child will create something special during an art activity related to the book(s) read and eat a snack. On Tuesday, July 5, there will be a finale event to celebrate the Summer Reading Program. Due to the activities being planned, it would be helpful to know how many children will be participating. Please stop by the library to fill out a registration form before the end of May. Please feel free to contact the library at 641-692-3238 with any questions.

Come join us for Bingo every Saturday night at the Alexander Community Center at 6:30 PM . Doors open at 5:30. Concession stand is available. Proceeds to benefit the Alexander Community Corporation, a nonprofit community betterment organization.

The Alexander Community Center is available to rent for your holiday and family get-togethers. Please call Jacki at 692-3314 or Tom at 692-3279 for more information or to make your reservations.
